Remembering the future

My town election/library/school dream is about my community coming together around a common purpose—to strengthen our bonds, to enrich ourselves through learning and fun, and to provide lasting value for residents of West Boylston and beyond. I glimpsed a part of that dream in Ipswitch Australia.

rememberwhenRemember When – Memories of Ipswich is “a
collaborative, web based story writing project by Ipswich seniors in partnership with the Ipswich Library.”

From halfway around the globe, this lovely collection of short memoirs brings the community of Ipswich alive for me. How I enjoyed its stories and photos, which are surprisingly similar to the reminiscences of neighbors I’ve come to know through the West Boylston Historical Society.

And the thought of the public library facilitating senior citizens’ use of info technology to share their stories just warms my radical heart.
